PROGRAMS:
Established in 1927 as a part of the Bible college movement, Manhattan Christian
College offers undergraduate degree programs with a curriculum centered
on the Bible as the Word of God. General education develops an understanding
of self and others, communication skills, critical and creative thinking,
and cultural awareness thereby establishing an integrated Christian world
view. The majority of the college's specialized majors prepare people for
professional, church-related leadership, and service.
In cooperation with Kansas State University our degree programs enable
people to utilize other careers to meet the needs of people around the
world. Programs are also organized to provide continuing educating for
church leaders and appropriate services and resources for churches and
Christian groups.
On completion of an MCC program the student will be able to do the following
- Self-contained programs (nearly all course work required is offered
on the MCC campus)
- Serve as preaching ministers, missionaries, Christian education
ministers, youth ministers, or music ministers.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge of the Holy Scriptures.
- Exhibit perspective in areas of general education.
- Show professional competence in the specific areas of service to
which they have been called.
- Enter seminary, appropriate graduate school programs, or ministry.
- Cooperative programs with Kansas State University (those combining
course work at MCC and KSU)
- Show competence in "handling aright the Word of truth."
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basic areas of general education.
- Give evidence of a competence in rendering a ministry to a congregation
in the United States or on
a mission field.
- Show competence in a second professional area. This will provide
a specialty for use on a mission field or provide employment during
new-church evangelism or in some appropriate lay ministry.
- Display a competence in his or her second area of specialty which
will qualify the person for gainful employment in the business or
professional world,
- Demonstrate the necessary competence to gain admission to appropriate
graduate study.
- In Adult Education (LEAD degree completion)
- Have a knowledge of biblical principles of ethics and be
able to apply this knowledge to everyday situations in the workplace.
- Have the skills and knowledge necessary for entry-level leadership
and management positions in not-for-profit, for-profit or public organizations.
- Have an understanding of the integration of biblical concepts of
ethics into commercial activity and management concepts of the world's
marketplace.
- Have an understanding of the integration of theoretical concepts
into practical applications.
- Have completed a college education specifically for the working
adult student which develops leadership in working situations.
- Be prepared to pursue graduate study and life-long learning.
ACCREDITATION AND ACADEMIC STANDING:

Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC) -- Manhattan
Christian College was initially accredited in 1949 and was reaffirmed
for accreditation in 1996 for 10 years. AABC is a national undergraduate
institutional accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher
Education Accreditation (CHEA). AABC is listed by the United States Department
of Education as the recognized accrediting agency for undergraduate Bible
college education. Further AABC is recognized by the Department of Justice,
Veterans Administration, and other relevant federal agencies.

Students who have a complaint against the college may contact
in writing or call NCA or AABC.
Transfer Credit Practices of Designated Educational Institutions,
published by the American Association of collegiate Registrars and Admissions
Officers, indicates a general acceptance of MCC credits, for the transfer
of courses that are substantially equivalent. Manhattan Christian College
is empowered by the State of Kansas to "confer such scholastic degrees
or certificates of graduation as are usually conferred by Institutions
of Higher Learning."
The Kansas Veterans Commission has approved the college
for the training of veterans under Public Law 550, 82nd Congress. The
college is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students.
Students at Manhattan Christian College are eligible for
Pell Grant, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, Perkins Loan Program,
Stafford Loan Program, and the College Work Study Program under the U.S.
Department of Education.
MCC graduates with an appropriate grade-point average and
a fiftieth percentile rank on the Graduate Record Examination have been
admitted into the Graduate School of Kansas State University. They have
also experienced acceptance by other graduate schools. Depending upon
the MCC degree and personal qualifications, the person may need to take
some prerequisite courses before entering a specific graduate program. |
