CONSTITUTION OF THE

MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

 

ARTICLE I – NAME

 

The name of this organization shall be the Manhattan Christian College Alumni Association

 

 

ARTICLE II – PURPOSE

The purpose of the Manhattan Christian College (MCC) Alumni Association is to:

 

  1. Enrich the lives of our alumni by:
    1. Communication
    2. Networking opportunities
    3. Ministry training and personal enrichment

 

  1. Support the mission of MCC through:
    1. Engaging alumni through alumni association membership
    2. Increasing the number of alumni who support MCC financially
    3. Organizing alumni events to attract alumni
    4. Sharing the message of MCC with potential students

 

 

ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1.        Membership in this organization shall be open to all persons who have received a degree, certification, diploma or any other honor conferred by the institution.

Section 2.        Membership shall be further extended to include any person who at any time has been enrolled at Manhattan Christian College.

Section 3.        All past and present trustees, administrators, faculty, and staff shall be eligible for membership.

Section 4.        Voting privileges shall be granted to those who are lifetime members or for those or are current active members.

Section 5.        Honorary membership may be conferred upon men and women of distinction. Honorary members shall enjoy all privileges except those of voting and
holding office.

 

ARTICLE IV – EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

 

The officers of this organization shall be president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. These officers shall hold two year appointments and are renewable by vote of the Alumni Association Board.  Officers shall be elected in odd-numbered years.

 

 

ARTICLE V – MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ADVISORY COUNCIL

(MCC AA Advisory Council)

The MCC AA Advisory Council shall consist of the officers listed in Article IV of this constitution.  In addition, no less than five and no more than eleven additional alumni association members will be selected.  The alumni relations representative for Manhattan Christian College will serve as a non-voting liason for the benefit of the association and MCC.  The president of the college is an ex-officio member of the Board.

 

 

ARTICLE VI – MEETINGS

 

Section 1.        Meetings will be scheduled by the vote of the Alumni Association Advisory Council.  Special consideration will be given to hold at least one meeting per year in conjunction with reunions and other special events.

Section 2.        Special meetings may be called at any time by the president of the Alumni Association and must be called by him/her upon written request of five members.

 

 

ARTICLE VII – VOTING

 

Section 1.        The procedure of voting shall be left to the discretion of the presiding officer.

Section 2.        All motions, amendments and resolutions must receive a simple majority of the total number of votes cast whether in person or electronically.

Section 3.        Voting electronically is valid if received by the president of the organization prior to the close of the ballot.

 

 

ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS

 

This constitution may be amended by two-thirds of the total number of votes cast, provided that the notice of the proposed amendment has been submitted in written form to the entire membership at least 30 days prior to the ballot concerning the amendment.
