2016 KICA Faculty of Distinction

Dr. Genilyn McCaffrey, Professor of Worship Ministry and a member of the MCC faculty for 10 years, was recently selected to receive the Kansas Independent College Association (KICA) Faculty of Distinction award.  Honorees were recognized at a professional development celebration and award reception on October 13, 2016.

The KICA Faculty of Distinction program celebrates excellence and achievement among faculty at the 19 accredited private colleges and universities in Kansas.  Throughout their existence, these colleges, which included the oldest colleges in Kansas, have emphasized the importance of classroom teaching, personal attention to each and every student, and a commitment to character, values, and learning through every facet of their graduates’ lives.

Dr. McCaffrey earned her Doctor of Worship Studies degree from the Robert E. Weber Institute of Worship Studies in 2012.  She also holds a Masters of Divinity degree from Lincoln Christian Seminary and a Bachelors of Biblical Literature from Ozark Christian College.

Dr. McCaffrey was instrumental in developing MCC’s current worship studies program and continues to modify it to fit the changing needs of the church.  She puts in significant time mentoring the worship leaders at MCC and helping them lead our weekly chapel services.  She also participates in worship leading in the local church.

“During the past academic year, Dr. McCaffrey led two faculty search committees as well as taught within her discipline with excellence while also teaching Greek with the same excellence,” said Dr. Greg Delort, Vice President for Academic Affairs.  “I was pleased to recommend her for this prestigious award. Dr. McCaffrey does exceptional work in her profession, in the community, and in the church.”
