Bridging the Gap Between the Old and New Testament

An important element of Biblical interpretation is considering the various contexts of Scripture.  This 5-week course will begin with the Intertestamental period, helping bridge the historical gap between the Old and New Testaments and then move on to consider the geo-political, religious, rhetorical, and social backgrounds necessary to better understand New Testament texts.

Professor:  Dr. Alisha Paddock

Dr. Alisha Paddock graduated from Manhattan Christian College with a B.A. in Cross-Cultural Ministry in 2002.  She went on to receive her Master of Divinity with New Testament Concentration from Emmanuel Christian Seminary in 2007.  While teaching New Testament and Greek courses at MCC, she pursued a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Birmingham (UK).  Her dissertation is titled “Creating Sacred Space in First Century Corinth.”
