WHITE MEMORIAL CAMP
Join the adventure in the heart of the Flint Hills surrounded by a gorgeous reservoir at our retreat and camp! White Memorial Camp and Retreat Center is looking for a leader to add to our team. Our organization hosts summer camps for youth ages k-12 as well as retreats for adults with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities. We also cater weddings, occasional family reunions and other weekend and week long retreats during the spring and fall. Our busy season is the summer. This is a seasonal position with potential for odd jobs and part time work scattered during the off season. We are seeking:
-Counselor for male campers (preferably with youth pastor ambitions or experience)
-Kitchen cooking staff
-volunteer cabin counselors for 2 weeks of camp to work with our men and women with intellectual/developmental disabilities as well as a volunteer pastor or spiritual leader for these camps.

Camp Volunteer Opportunities

Join the adventure in the heart of the Flint Hills surrounded by a gorgeous reservoir at our retreat and camp! White Memorial Camp and Retreat Center is looking for a leader to add to our team. Our organization hosts summer camps for youth ages k-12 as well as retreats for adults with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities. Volunteers wishing to work with campers should meet these qualifications:
1. Be at least 18 years of age (Can be younger if working with Id/Dd camps an special camp events and operations.)
2. Have the physical and mental capability to care for campers
3. Complete all pieces of the application process, including application, phone interview, and three references (no family/friends)
4. Complete and submit all medical requirements including a physical
5. Pass a criminal background check (provided by White Memorial Camp)
6. Attend an orientation on your scheduled arrival day
7. Work with our staff and volunteer team collaboratively and effectively
1. All meals are provided for free during the camp session!
2. Board will be provided as you’ll be in the cabin with campers.
3. Volunteers receive training on camp polices, safety, child care, risk management, leading games and activities and more
4. Participate in fun and exciting activities while assisting campers in the beautiful flint hills surrounded on 3 sides by a lake!
5. Join our ever-growing volunteer team! Not only is it a great way to make friends, but it’s also a great way to network as well.
6. Great way to earn hours for school, college, scholarship or résumé.
Cabin Counselors (for camps ranging from Grades 4-12 and Young Campers Ages K-3)
A volunteer counselor team is responsible for assisting with the 24-hour supervision of a cabin and maintains a camper to counselor ratio of about 6 to 1 in the cabin and 4 to 1 during the day. Counselors spend each day of the camp session with other cabin counselors, program staff and campers as they rotate through a schedule of activities
and exciting workshops provided by the program staff. The cabin counselor enthusiastic participation in all aspects of camp is crucial in creating a memorable camp experience for our campers. Cabin Counselors participate in mealtimes, program activities, cabin games and chats, and overall care for campers, providing support, and being supported by, our program staff. Counselors are expected to be role models, sources of energy and ideas, and are a key part of the Camp White Experience! Cabin Counselors (Adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities)
Half of our summer is dedicated to providing a retreat camp for adults with developmental disabilities. Our Cabin Counselor team assists in providing 24-hour supervision, personal care, assistance during mealtimes and activities, and positive friendship with our guests. With a camper to counselor ration of 3 – 1, you’ll love joining our excellent team of volunteers and making life-long memories with our campers. Training will be provided during orientation to answer questions on campers’ special needs and camp procedures. Program Guests and Performers
We offer a wide variety of programming options for our campers thanks to volunteers willing to offer their specific skill sets, professional teachings, talents and time. This is a great way to volunteer for varied lengths of time whether it’s a full week or a few hours. Performers may choose to offer their skills to put on a show one evening. Outdoors
enthusiasts might want to spend the week teaching campers orientation and mapping skills or fire building. We are always looking for new experiences to offer our campers, and we guarantee you’ll have just as much fun as they will! If you would like to contribute to the quality camp experience without being directly responsible for the daily supervision of campers, there are plenty of ways to get involved! WMC was built, maintained and ran by caring, easy-going problem solvers. If that’s you, some ways to get involved include: office work, maintenance, food services,
grounds keeping, gardening, landscaping, fundraising, cleaning and organization, marketing, managing e-mails and social media, special events, and more Registration crews, WMC booths at various community events, and so on.
PASTORS/YOUTH PASTORS/SPIRITUAL LEADERS
We are seeking those with a passion for ministry to help during the weeks of our UCC church camps and camps for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities to lead bible studies, evening vespers, and act as spiritual counsel. It’s a fun, relaxed position at a laid back camp. Having musical skills is a bonus!
