Champions Special Ministries is a faith-based, non-profit organization located in Overland Park, KS that travels and hosts Summer Day Camp Programs across the MidWest for individuals (ages 6+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Champions hires and recruits college students as paid staff to facilitate Summer Day Camp Programs. Camp Locations include: Durango, CO; Fayetteville, AR; Dallas, TX; Plano, TX; Lenexa, KS; Liberty, MO; Broken Arrow, OK.
1. Team Leader
– Primary responsibilities include: leading teams of campers (individuals with disabilities) and volunteers through daily schedule of Camp activities (i.e. arts, crafts, recreation, sports, Bible studies, Talent shows, parties, Water Day).
– Primary responsibilities include: capturing weekly Camp activities/ Camper profiles; creating End of Week video; uploading photos to Champions website for families/ community viewing.
3. Emcee (i.e. VOICE OF CAMP)
– Primary responsibilities include: facilitating Camp activities to ensure smooth, comical transitions and activity guidance.
4. Programs Director
-Primary responsibilities include: Master-mind behind games and activities; creative input regarding organization and weekly arrangement of Camp schedule.
5. Administrative Assistant
-Primary responsibilities include: administrative role/ responsibilities; oversight of Teams to ensure team/ camper safety.
6. Worship Leader
-Primary responsibilities include: leading staff worship; leading camper worship and silly songs.
