The MCC men's basketball team dropped their third game this week, losing 92-79 on the road at Kansas Wesleyan University. MCC got off to a slow start and found themselves trailing 16-8 about six minutes into the contest. However MCC would rebound from the slow start and took their first lead at 26-25. MCC would increase their advantage to 31-28 before KWU ended the half on a 12-0 run, fueled by three consecutive three-pointers to give the Coyotes a 40-31 halftime lead.
KWU would increase their lead to twelve points on multiple occasions in the second half, the closest MCC would get down the stretch was at 67-60. Fouls and free throws were big keys in the game as the Crusaders were whistled for 28 fouls which allowed KWU to make it to the line 39 times on the evening and they connected on 30.
Sage Ruis led MCC with 18 points, his brother Devin Ruis chipped in with 13 points and David Frost and Lonnie Penner both added 11 points. MCC will be back in action at home Tuesday night as they host Southwestern College (Winfield, KS) at 7:00pm.
