The MCC women defeated Ozark Christian 68 to 47 on Friday. The first half was a sluggish event with neither team getting any continuity going. MCC was able to squeak out a 31 to 26 halftime lead. Early in the second half MCC went on a twelve point scoring run to break the game open. The Lady Crusaders held Ozark’s high scoring guard Chelsea Matlock to six points, thirteen below her average. Manhattan’s defense held Ozark to 24% shooting for the game. Libby Witte paced MCC with 17 points senior point guard Sarah Wenger added 10 points. Aspyn Schitz had 10 points for Ozark and McKenna Thompson grabbed 11 rebounds.
Saturday MCC jumped to an early 10 to 0 lead to never trail in the game with Calvary Bible. The halftime score was 37 to 19. Manhattan senior guard Brittany Shaklee made 5 three pointers in the first half. Shaklee ended up with twenty points to lead Manhattan in scoring. Sophomore post Libby Witte grabbed 19 rebounds. MCC’s record is now 14-3 for the season. Friday Manhattan travels to Moberly, Missouri to play in a key regional match up with Central Christian College of the Bible.
