Job Description

The Elementary & Middle School Pastor will provide leadership and pastoral care for students in 4th-8th grade and their families, creating a sense of belonging and spiritual growth within the ministry. This role will equip and empower Difference Makers (volunteer leaders) to disciple students and oversee all gatherings and activities for this age group. Working in collaboration with the NextGen Pastor and SBKids team, the Elementary & Middle School Pastor will develop ministries and teaching that align with the mission of StoneBridge to Share Christ & Build Believers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following)
Ministry Leadership
  • Oversee the development of a ministry environment that builds community and relational connectedness for students in 4th-8th grades.
  • Oversee pastoral care and programming for students in 4th-8th grades.
  • Serve as the lead communicator/teacher in various capacities for the ministry to 4th-8th graders.
  • Lead, equip, and train Difference Makers who teach in various roles as well as serving as small group leaders.
  • Work with NextGen Pastor and SBKids Pastor to select and implement a curriculum plan.
  • Regularly make relational contact with students outside of the church building through attending activities such as show choir competitions, sporting events, and more.
  • Prioritize ways to facilitate family discipleship within the ministry for 4th-8th graders.
  • Plan and implement activities, camps, events, and programs that will attract actively involved students and non-Christians and move them closer to a relationship with Jesus and ongoing spiritual growth.
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and standards that ensure the health, safety and security of all kids, students, and Difference Makers.
  • Work in collaboration with the NextGen Team.
Administrative Systems and Processes
  • Work with NextGen Pastor and Lead SBKids Pastor to create and steward budget for 4th-8th grade ministry.
  • Edit and prepare all curriculum and supplies needed for 4th-8th grade ministries as well as aiding NextGen Pastor and Lead SBKids Pastor in the same tasks.
  • Keep background checks up to date for all NextGen Volunteers.
  • Work alongside the NextGen Pastor and Lead SBKids Pastor in planning and organizing weekly gatherings, leader trainings, and other programming as needed.
  • Provide increased support and time during key annual events such as SBKids Camp, SummerJam, Middle School Camp, CIY, and the Back to School Block Party.
  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to
    • registration,
    • curriculum preparation,
    • supplies,
    • room set-up,
    • snack coordination, and
    • communication.
  • Complete all administrative tasks relating to programming and ministry for students in 4th-8th grades.
Additional Pastoral Duties
  • Serve on a rotation as the On Call Pastor over the weekend.
  • Perform weddings and funerals.
  • Teach baptism and communion classes as a part of SBKids or SBYth.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
  • Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • 2 years of relevant experience preferred serving in kids or youth ministry.
    • Preference towards someone with a ministry/Bible College degree.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Track record of exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing.
    • Proficient in grasping biblical and theological concepts.
    • Strong leadership skills in accountability, conflict resolution, and vision casting.
    • Demonstrates initiative with an ability to work effectively apart from close supervision.
    • Highly organized, team-player, fast learner, committed to excellence.
    • Adapts effectively to changing priorities and performs effectively in pressure situations.
    • Problem Solver with a solution-side mindset.
    • Encouraging to other team members.
    • Excellent computer knowledge with experience and proficiency in Google Drive.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for 3 hours at a time as can occur during events.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Position Classification: Non-Exempt.
  • Position Status: Regular, Salary, Full-time (40-50 hours per week, Sunday-Thursday).
  • Ministerial Status: Pastoral.
