Denton Freedom House’s Vision and Mission Statement:

THE VISION
As received from Luke 4:18-19:
To preach good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, and set free those that are oppressed, and proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

THE MISSION
Denton Freedom House’s mission statement stems from our Lord’s commandment and commission in Matthew 28:18-20.

The Mission Statement is this:
To liberate the broken from their bondage of sin and addiction by the transforming power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to equip them to become prosperous disciples of Christ with Kingdom vision, purpose and direction.

Men and Women
Denton Freedom House serves men and women. This home in Marion is a home for women.

This is a great opportunity to participate in Christ’ great commission of making disciples and being a part of the transformation of womens’ lives.

OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

• Woman On Watch (W.O.W.)
A woman on watch is primarily responsible for leading the women through the daily activities while at the home. While she is with the women she will be an advocate, mentor, leader and shepherd. This is the most significant role at the home. Women who serve in this position have the opportunity to directly speak into the lives of each resident as they bring up both personal and spiritual questions. Depending on which WOW shift you choose will determine what you do with the women. Example being Sunday evenings are movie nights while Wednesday evenings are Bible Study. The main goal is to always bring them back to Jesus, prayer, and Biblical Truths!

• Mentor
After residents are in the home 45 days they are assigned a mentor, if a mentor is available. A mentor is responsible for meeting with a resident twice a month for 1 hour. If the mentor would like a longer meeting they must get it approved. As a mentor you are a safe person for the resident to talk about matters concerning the program. You should be a shepherd who leads them back to the Word and back to prayer.

• Teacher
A teacher is responsible for teaching the residents the Word of God. You will come in and lead a Bible study with the residents. As a teacher you have a greater responsibility to know the scriptures and to teach them at every given opportunity.

Other teaching opportunities could be teaching a craft or teaching how to cook.
