Organist/Pianist/Choir Director

Our church is seeking someone to fill the position of Organist/Pianist/Choir Director. This position is first and foremost a vital part of the ministry team in our congregation. As such we seek someone who will maintain positive working relations with the pastor and other staff, and cordial relationships with members and other who may be in the building, helping us create a welcoming atmosphere for ministry and a joyful and enriching musical experience for all. This person will work in consultation with the pastor to prepare music appropriate to the mission and season of the church.

The responsibilities of this position will include playing the organ/ piano/ keyboard, and perhaps other instruments on occasion, for worship services of the church. Additionally, they will direct a small volunteer choir and may from time to time have a bell choir and/ or children’s choir. The purchasing of music, maintaining music library, scheduling upkeep and tuning of organ/ piano/ keyboard and bells/ chimes is also a part of this position.

Schedule: We currently worship at 10:30 am from the Sunday following Labor Day through Memorial Day. During the time in between (summer) we worship at 9:30 am We also hold special services during the Advent/Christmas Season, the Lent/ Easter Season, and perhaps a few other special services during the year. The Choir currently sings weekly during the year and takes a break through the summer. The director will be expected to hold weekly rehearsals with the choir during the choir season. The director will also arrange for special music during the summer months or on other occasions in consultation with the pastor.

Remuneration: This is a part time, salaried position. The amount of  compensation will be subject to negotiation based on experience and training. The position includes 2 weeks of paid vacation (to include 2 Sunday’s) and 2 weeks of continuing education leave ( to include 2 Sundays).
