Overview

Oxford Christian Church in Oxford, Kansas is looking for a full-time pastor. Our community of Oxford is a historic small town located in Sumner County, Kansas with a population of approximately 1,000 residents. The residents of Oxford are part of a tight knit community with a strong sense of hometown pride and enjoy the many perks that come along with living in such a welcoming environment. Oxford is a family friendly community that has fun activities throughout the year including the Watermelon Feed and Christmas in the Country.

Oxford is located between Winfield and Wellington on Highway 160 and is just 10 minutes from the Kansas Turnpike where you will be minutes away from shopping and great restaurants. We are south of Wichita where there is shopping, restaurants, hospitals, and museums.

Education is important to the Oxford community. The school and the community work together to make sure the kids have a fun and safe learning environment. Our school has approximately 325-350 students with a 15-1 student to teacher ratio. It has a graduation rate of 97%. The school offers sports and fun activities for kids of all ages.

Oxford is a great community that helps support the Oxford Christian Church in many different ways.

Our church is a family oriented, loving, Christ-centered body of believers through the Word, prayer, and service. Our congregation averages 80-100 in attendance. We are aggressively working to support young people, the Oxford community, and surrounding communities through the Word and actions of missions and outreach.

We are a strong Bible believing, devoted, caring, and helping church dedicated to sharing God’s love.

We gather once a week with morning classes for all ages followed by a worship service. We have different activities and opportunities throughout the week such as: community youth group (45-50), Ladies Bible Study, morning prayer group, and Senior Coffee Talk.

We are a mission-minded Church that supports worldwide ministries such as Rapha House, CRU, and Samaritan Purse Christmas Child. In addition, we support local ministries such as: Backpack/ Food Bank, School/After Prom Programs, Ministerial Alliance, Teacher’s Mission, Christmas Angel Tree, and the Linus Blanket Ministry.

Qualifications

A spirit filled man who is passionately in love with Jesus and His word and is Biblically sound.
A compassionate servant minded shepherd who is a prayer warrior and has a heart for service. Who is willing to grow with us having the ability to gently spiritually lead and guide people. Who is both willing and able to counsel individuals and handle conflict with discernment, grace, and mercy.
A man of God who has a heart for the congregation and who is willing to live in or near Oxford, and who is willing to be involved in the community.
A man who is honest, has integrity, and will have good communication with the Elders, church board, and committees that reflect the church’s vision.

Benefit

Salary & benefits $60-$70k per year. Relocation assistance available.
2 weeks paid vacation

Responsibilities

The pastor will be responsible for preaching, teaching, and mentoring members of the church while also engaging with the broader community.
The pastor will work closely with church leadership to develop programs and initiatives that promote spiritual growth and outreach.
Provide Pastoral Care such as: hospital/homebound visits, calls, and other support, including reaching out to non-attending members.
Deliver passionate, encouraging, and thought-provoking sermons that are grounded in scripture.
Be available and provide leadership with the Ministerial Alliance.
Perform weddings and funerals and counsel those involved.
Develop and maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new members.
