“Becoming a beacon of faith, drawing people to Jesus”

The congregation of Rolling Hills Christian Church is praying God will inspire a Senior minister to join us in fulfilling our vision of becoming a beacon of faith, drawing people to Jesus.  Our present minister of 35 years is retiring May 2019. Ideally, the candidate will have a passion for preaching God’s word and shepherding our congregation to have a closer relationship with Christ.   Our mission is to serve Jesus by touching people’s lives and teaching them to have Kingdom minded hearts in our desire to fulfill the Great Commission.

We are a welcoming, Christ-centered congregation of varying ages and stages of life.  We believe that salvation comes through a relationship with Jesus and our identity with Jesus comes through baptism by immersion in water.  We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and the Great Commission is to share the Lord’s message of grace locally and worldwide. Individuals and families of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to be a part of the Rolling Hills family.  We support and uplift each other through our prayers, fellowship and service to one another. We are deeply rooted in missions, giving generously to both local and worldwide missions.

CHURCH HISTORY:
The church was founded in 1976 by members of two Topeka area Christian churches to place a Christian church in the growing northwest area of Topeka with the assistance of the Christian Evangelizing Association (CEA).  We continue to support the CEA financially and in prayer. The original church building was completed in 1976 and expanded in 1996 due to church growth.

CONGREGATIONAL CONNECTIONS:
Sunday School:  9:00am on Sunday morning. We currently have classes for all ages. The curriculum is determined by those in attendance.

Worship:  10:00am on Sunday mornings.  Our worship service is a mixture of traditional and contemporary Gospel music, prayer and a bible-based message with practical living application.  Children’s church programs and a nursery are available for those ages birth to 6th grade. We also offer communion and offering each week during the 10:00am service.

Youth Group:  Sunday afternoon youth group is led by volunteers within the church.

MISSIONS CONNECTIONS:
RHCC currently supports 15 missions on a quarterly basis and at least 5 additional missions with a yearly one-time gift.  Traditionally, for over 30 years, we have a Harvest Weekend. Each November a specific time is dedicated to prayer and a love offering above and beyond members’ normal tithes and offerings.  This year, we surpassed the goal of $10,500 by collecting over $14,000 for God’s work.

BY THE NUMBERS:
We currently have 2 paid staff persons; a full-time minister and a part-time secretary.  They, along with our Elders, Deacons and many volunteers, serve the needs of our church body, overseeing the day to day operations of our facilities, worship and fellowship services and pastoral needs.  We currently average 75-85 worshippers in attendance each week. With an average budget of $155,000 over the last 5 years, inspired by God, those attending have financially supported RHCC to meet the budget.  Excluding a loan to cover the recent replacement of the parking lot, RHCC is debt free.

OUR FUTURE:
Our 5-year goal is to bring more lives to Christ by increasing weekly attendance and baptisms.    We have ample space to grow and expand. Like the many recently trees planted on our grounds, we are looking to grow our congregation both in size and faith.  We welcome partnering on these short-term items:
– Enhancing and expanding our small group fellowship opportunities
– Mentoring our youth in opportunities to serve and show Christ’s love in their daily lives
– Continuing to strengthen our congregation’s passion for serving Christ

WHAT WE ARE SEEKING:
We are seeking a biblically based, seminary or bible college-educated minister to join us as a full-time salary-based minister.  The candidate should have the desire and passion to grow alongside us while helping to form plans and strategies for growth. He should be comfortable preaching, spending time in discipleship with congregants, and in pastoral care and fellowship with the congregation.  His duties will include premarital, family and bereavement counseling as needed and advise when other professional help is needed. The amount of time devoted to each will vary with the needs of the congregation. He will perform baptisms, wedding ceremonies, and funeral services.

Our compensation package includes, but is not limited to, a base salary, continuing education/professional development funds, vacation time and assistance with health insurance.
