Shelterwood is a Christ-centered therapeutic boarding school for at-risk teens, located in the greater Kansas City area. We are joint-commission accredited to serve teens experiencing depression, anxiety, substance use, trauma, developmental and attachment focused behaviors that are impacting their relationships and education. Our 200-acre campus serves both young men and women through a combination of clinical excellence, small in person classes, and relational community living.
The word “Shelterwood” describes a forestry technique in which older, stronger trees shelter and protect younger trees on the forest floor until they stand, grow and thrive on their own. In the same way, Shelterwood offers struggling teens a safe, loving place to heal and flourish. If you are interested in working with struggling teens and beginning or furthering your career in social work, counseling, psychology, youth ministries or special education, this is an excellent opportunity for training, leadership, ministry and career development.
We are a non-profit ministry that offers mentors a one-year paid position, lodging & meals, excellent health benefits, and a generous PTO package. In addition to this opportunity we offer other full-time positions as well as internships.
