Website Westside Christian Church

Community:
Westside Christian Church is in a beautiful part of the country. Southern Oregon has mild very pleasant weather with an hour drive access to both the ocean beaches to the west and the mountains for hiking and skiing in the east. The North Umpqua River, which runs through our town is world famous for its fly fishing, hiking trails and waterfalls. Roseburg, where our church is located, is a town of about 25,000. We have surrounded small towns and unincorporated farming communities such that the population, we draw from is approximately 50,000. Douglas County is largely made up of blue-collar conservative people. Substantial poverty and substance abuse applies to this populace. Yet, there is a palpable sense of community and generosity not often seen in larger cities. You will have unique opportunities for home and living experience. Many live just out of town in one of the endless farming valleys surrounding our town in a beautiful country setting. Yet, these folks are within 10–15 minutes of unimpeded scenic driving to Roseburg.

Church:
Westside Christian Church averages a Sunday morning attendance of about 250 people in two services. We are traditional in that we offer Sunday School, Children’s church, Sunday night bible study and youth groups and Wednesday night prayer and worship. We still have VBS. We are less traditional in our aggressive support programs for those in recovery, a large food pantry, hosting many community groups, small bible studies, nearly every day of the week, family movies, and many events of outreach to the community. Our job is to make the gospel relevant and attractive. Our goal is to restore families and individuals to Jesus. Please visit Westside Christian Church website for further information about our church.
