Job Description
First Christian Church, Downs, KS is a small independent Christian church (25-30) in a farming community in north central Kansas which is looking to grow in membership and our Christian walk. We are seeking a pastor who is committed to and responsible for the spiritual leadership of our church. A pastor who will assist in worship services and willing to educate through God’s word, establishing and communicating a Jesus Christ centered vision for the church. A pastor with a heart for evangelism who will help us to increase our church family in size and reach the community with God’s love.
The man we are looking for must be a born again believer in Jesus and the trinity with beliefs centered in God’s Holy Word. Holds to the standards required in I Timothy 3:1-12 and Titus 1:6-9. Committed to the spiritual disciplines as stated in I Peter 5:1-5. Able to administer baptism, communion, marriages, funerals, baby dedications, etc.
The Pastor Will
- Oversee and mentor with the leadership within our church family.
- Represent our church in community outreach activities and charitable events.
- Organize weekly services and deliver Biblically based messages.
- He will be able to communicate with members of the congregation and provide spiritual guidance, including pastoral care for nursing home residents.
- He will be able to communicate with and engage the youth with the message of God’s love. The Pastor will use due diligence in his communications to the Church Board and the congregation.
This is a full-time job. A very nice parsonage is provided with utilities paid for as part of the salary. Other benefits will be discussed at time of the interview.
Mission Statement
The purpose of this church shall be as revealed in the New Testament to win people to the church, to help them grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ that increasingly they may know and do His will, and to work for the unity of all Christians and with them engage in the common task of building the Kingdom of God; and for the purpose of forming a congregation and providing and maintaining a meeting place where said congregation may meet and bear the word of God.
