A Letter From President Ingram

MCC has an amazing opportunity to meet a significant need and I hope you will help us turn that opportunity into reality!

The opportunity allows us to…
replace Johnson Hall,
reclaim valuable land previously owned by MCC, and
expand the revenue streams of the college thus providing more financial stability.
That’s an amazing opportunity!

Last summer, I began talks with the owner of Anderson Village, located right next to MCC’s main administrative building, about the college purchasing the property. As we considered the opportunity and looked further at the facility, we readily discovered how it could be beneficial for MCC in many ways.

For several years we have needed to replace Johnson Hall. It has served the college well for 57 years, and replacing it is long overdue. The apartments and community rooms located on the 2nd floor of Anderson Village not only help us replace Johnson Hall but will also help foster the lifelong relationships that are forged in our residence halls and upgrade housing options for MCC students. We’re also excited about how more modern housing might help us increase enrollment.

Many don’t know that the college owned the land that Anderson Village sits on until 1985. It was my Senior year at MCC when it was sold to help the college during some difficult financial times. It will be great to reclaim this land, and also expand the revenue streams of the college through the rental income of the businesses on the first-floor.

I think you would agree with me, this is an amazing opportunity!

We now have a verbal agreement to purchase Anderson Village for $4 million. To help us take this exciting step, the goal of our Multiply Campaign is $2,000,000. Raising that amount of money allows us to continue to utilize our student housing revenue to fund our Annual Budget and use the income from the first-floor retail to pay off the remaining $2,000,000 of the purchase price.

Will you help us reach our $2,000,000 goal and…
…multiply relationships,
…multiply leaders,
…and multiply impact?

Here’s how you can help!
Christian Financial Services has agreed to loan us $3M of the $4M needed to complete the purchase. Therefore, the timeline for the purchase requires that the first $1M of our goal be raised by May 31. Once we complete the purchase, CFR will charge us interest only while we complete our ultimate goal of $2M towards this project.

Currently, just over $700,000 has been given towards this project. I am sure you’ve done the math – that leaves us another $1.3 million to reach our goal. Please give to the Multiply Campaign and help us multiply relationships, multiply leaders, and multiply the impact of the mission of Manhattan Christian College!
