Job Description
District Church is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and versatile Associate Pastor to join our team. This individual will have a strong foundation in youth and kids’ ministry, alongside a proficiency in preaching, vision casting, and organizational leadership.
We are looking for someone who is not only a committed spiritual leader but also someone with technical expertise in areas such as graphic design, church media, and organizational systems. The ideal candidate will help further our mission of fostering spiritual growth and community engagement through vibrant programs, meaningful services, and a forward-thinking approach to ministry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Youth and Kids Ministry
- Lead, develop, and oversee the youth and kids’ ministry programs (infant to High School) in alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
- Design and implement age-appropriate teaching strategies and activities that engage kids and youth, helping them grow in their faith and relationship with Christ.
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteer leaders to assist in ministry activities, ensuring a healthy and supportive environment for youth and children.
- Plan and execute events, retreats, mission trips, and other ministry opportunities for youth and kids.
- Foster relationships with youth, children, and their families to provide spiritual care, counseling, and support.
- Preaching and Teaching
- Regularly preach during services as scheduled by the Lead Pastor, contributing to the overall teaching ministry of the church.
- Assist in developing sermon series, messages, and other teaching materials.
- Ensure that all ministry teaching aligns with biblical truth, sound doctrine, and the church’s theological values.
- Vision Casting & Culture Setting
- Collaborate with the Lead Pastor and church leadership to help cast and implement the vision for the church, ensuring alignment across all ministries and outreach efforts.
- Foster and nurture a positive church culture, emphasizing biblical community, growth, and outreach.
- Create and maintain a high-energy, welcoming, and spirit-filled atmosphere during youth, children’s, and worship services.
- Leadership & Organizational Development
- Assist with overall church leadership, strategic planning, and long-term vision development.
- Develop systems and processes for effective ministry, communication, and volunteer management.
- Act as a key partner in developing and executing church events, outreach programs, and discipleship initiatives.
- Provide oversight and support to church staff and volunteers as needed.
- Technical & Creative Ministry Support
- Utilize graphic design skills to create engaging visuals for church services, events, social media, and marketing materials.
- Oversee technical aspects of worship services (sound, lighting, video, and presentation software) to ensure seamless execution.
- Provide support for live streaming, video production, and other digital ministry efforts.
- Maintain and improve church’s website, social media presence, and digital content, ensuring a professional and engaging online experience.
- Other Duties as Assigned
- Attend staff meetings, conferences, and other training events as required.
- Engage in ongoing personal spiritual growth and development.
- Support other ministry functions as needed by the Lead Pastor or church leadership.
Qualifications:
- Spiritual Maturity:
- A committed follower of Christ with a passion for ministry and discipleship. Strong theological understanding and personal faith.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in kids and youth ministry, with demonstrated success in growing and developing programs.
- Experience preaching and teaching in a church setting.
- Proven track record of vision casting and leadership in a church or ministry context.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in church media technology, including sound systems, lighting, video production, and presentation software (e.g., ProPresenter, Ableton, etc.).
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.) and website management.
- Leadership Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to recruit, motivate, and equip volunteers.
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, events, and teams simultaneously.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to preach and teach effectively.
- Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in Theology, Ministry, or a related field is preferred; seminary training is a plus.
