Job Description

WCC is seeking a full-time Worship Minister who desires to help people encounter God and grow in their response to Him. This role centers on worship leadership while also providing opportunities to serve in other ministry areas based on gifting and passion. We are looking for someone who:

  • Leads worship with both authenticity and intentionality.
  • Helps people engage—not just observe—what God is doing.
  • Invests in and disciples a team of volunteers.
  • Works closely with church leadership to create meaningful worship gatherings.
  • Loves the local church and the people God has placed in it.

The Worship Minister leads and plans weekly worship gatherings, working closely with church leadership to create services that are engaging, participatory, and Christ-centered. This role includes developing and discipling volunteer worship and production teams, fostering a culture of spiritual growth and excellence. The Worship Minister also oversees key technical elements such as audio, visuals, and livestream, ensuring services run smoothly and distraction-free. In addition, there are opportunities to serve in other ministry areas based on gifting and passion.

Our Sunday gatherings are designed to be both welcoming and meaningful, with a focus on Scripture, communion, and engaging worship.  At WCC, we are not just trying to gather a crowd—we are committed to helping people grow into fully devoted followers of Jesus.

Primary Responsibilities – Worship

  • Worship Leadership
    • Plan and lead weekly Sunday worship gatherings.
    • Select songs and elements that align with sermon themes and church direction.
    • Lead vocally and/or instrumentally with clarity and confidence.
    • Create services that are engaging, participatory, and theologically sound.
  • Service Planning
    • Collaborate with the Lead Minister on service flow and direction.
    • Help design services that communicate clearly and move intentionally.
    • Incorporate Scripture, prayer, and other elements into worship sets.
  • Team Development
    • Recruit, train, and disciple worship team members.
    • Build a culture of humility, excellence, and spiritual growth.
    • Provide clear communication, scheduling, and leadership for volunteers.
  • Technology & Production
    • Oversee all Sunday morning production elements.
    • including:
      • Audio (sound system, mixing, basic troubleshooting).
      • Visuals (slides, ProPresenter or equivalent).
      • Livestream (camera operation, switching, basic OBS workflow).
      • Recruit and train volunteers for tech and production roles.
      • Ensure services run smoothly and distraction-free from a technical standpoint.
      • Maintain and organize equipment (sound, lighting, video, computers).
      • Help implement improvements to worship and production systems as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities

This role is designed to be flexible. In addition to worship leadership, the Worship Minister will take on one secondary ministry area based on their strengths and calling:

  • Student Ministry
    • Provide leadership or support for JH/HS ministry.
    • Teach, disciple, and build relationships with students.
    • Help plan weekly gatherings and events.
  • Communications
    • Oversee or assist with church communication strategy.
  • Create or coordinate:
    • Graphics (sermon series, events, announcements).
    • Social media content and scheduling.
    • Website updates and digital presence.
  • Outreach
    • Help develop and lead community outreach efforts.
    • Build connections with people outside the church.
    • Support events and initiatives aimed at engaging the community.
  • Discipleship
    • Help develop pathways for spiritual growth (groups, next steps, etc.).
    • Lead or support small groups or classes.
    • Equip people to grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Expectations

The Worship Minister will:

  • Plan and lead weekly worship gatherings with intentionality and preparation.
  • Develop, schedule, and care for worship and production volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Minister to shape Sunday services.
  • Oversee and support the technical elements of worship – (audio, visuals, livestream).
  • Be present and engaged in the life of the church beyond Sunday mornings.
  • Communicate clearly and follow through on responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • A clear and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Experience leading worship in a church or ministry setting.
  • Musical proficiency (vocally and/or instrumentally).
  • Ability to lead and organize a team.
  • Basic familiarity with worship/production technology (or willingness to learn).
  • Alignment with the mission and beliefs of Whiting Christian Church.
