Position Overview
Woodland Heights Christian Church is seeking a Youth Ministry Intern. The Youth Ministry Intern will support the mission of the church by partnering with the Youth Pastor and ministry team to disciple middle school and high school students. This internship is designed to provide hands-on ministry experience, leadership development, and spiritual formation for individuals discerning a call to vocational ministry.
Key Responsibilities
- Student Ministry Support
- Assist in planning, leading, and evaluating weekly youth gatherings, small groups, and Bible studies.
- Build meaningful, Christ-centered relationships with students.
- Provide pastoral care support through presence, encouragement, and prayer.
- Program & Event Coordination
- Help plan and execute special events, retreats, camps, and mission trips.
- Assist with logistics such as scheduling, setup/teardown, and communication.
- Support outreach and evangelism initiatives for students.
- Volunteer & Team Engagement
- Assist in recruiting, training, and supporting youth volunteers.
- Participate in regular staff and ministry meetings.
- Collaborate with church staff and other ministry areas.
- Administrative & Communication Tasks
- Help manage attendance records, calendars, and follow-up with families.
- Assist with communication via email, social media, and church platforms.
- Perform general administrative tasks related to youth ministry.
- Spiritual Formation & Development
- Participate in mentoring, coaching, and regular check-ins with a supervisor.
- Engage in personal spiritual disciplines and leadership development.
- Qualifications
- A growing and authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- A heart for working with middle school and high school students.
- Active involvement in a local church.
- Strong communication and relational skills.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and work collaboratively
- Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed college, seminary, or ministry training.
- Previous experience serving in youth or children’s ministry
- Time Commitment
- Approximately ___ hours per week.
- Includes evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight events.
- Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the intern will:- Gain practical experience in student discipleship and ministry leadership.
- Develop skills in teaching, event planning, and team leadership.
- Grow spiritually through mentoring and hands-on ministry.
- Discern next steps in vocational ministry or church leadership
