Youth Leader Internship

First Baptist Church

Internship Opportunity

First Baptist Church of Council Grove is offering and Youth Leader internship opportunity. We have worked with other Manhattan Christian College students before and are familiar with the schedule and commitments that the school requires. Our previous youth pastor that vacated this position did their senior year practicum with us, chose to remain employed here, and we have now transitioned them to full time youth ministry.

Because of the small amount of pay and hours we offer, this may be a good fit for someone wanting hands on experience in the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.  Please see details below.

Job Description

The Youth Leader for First Baptist Church of Council Grove will work with the Pastor and Church Boards to provide an environment and opportunities for spiritual development and personal growth for the youth of Council Grove and surrounding communities. This individual will lead Unshakeable (Youth Group) and will plan and implement a strategy for evangelism and discipleship to local youth.

Church and Ministry Description

First Baptist Church of Council Grove is a thriving, growing, ABCUSA church in eastern Kansas. We are currently adding on to the facility to provide room for our many outreach ministries, a much larger nursery, and additional space for our youth group. Currently our youth ministry encompasses about 40 regular youth with average youth group attendance ranging from about 15 to 25 a night depending on community events. Sunday School is much smaller with attendance anywhere from 2 to 12.

We have a dozen youth volunteers that work with small groups, Sunday School, Christian Education, or meal provision. Youth Group currently meets at 6:30pm on Wednesday evenings. Each evening of youth group we have a free meal before lessons and many of the students who attend in the evening need that meal. Sunday School meets at 9:30am on Sundays with church following.

Camping is an important part of what we do here in connection to our children and youth ministry. The Church pays for all students to go to a Christian Summer Camp each summer. Each year the Church sends between 25 and 30 individuals to camp.
