Credit for Prior Learning

Your education starts long before you enroll at Manhattan Christian College. At MCC, we value your prior learning — those lessons you learned through your job, service to your country, volunteer experiences and more. We’re proud to offer our students numerous options to assess your prior learning experiences for academic credit.

A maximum of thirty percent (30%) of a student’s chosen degree program can be completed through non-classroom contact (such as credit-by-examination, credit for prior learning, military experience, et cetera). A tentative evaluation of credits for transfer is usually made as a part of the admissions process. An official transcript of credits is completed after the student has been admitted to a degree program and has begun the first full semester of study at MCC.

Advanced credit

Manhattan Christian College offers credit by examination opportunities through which you may earn academic credit in specific courses. You can receive college credit for successfully completing exams offered through the College Level Exam Program (CLEP) or through the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) exam program.

Transfer credit

Courses you have taken at another college or university may transfer to MCC. We have established a transfer equivalency tool to aid you in understanding how MCC may transfer courses towards your degree requirements. However, please note that this tool is a guide and is not a substitute for speaking with a college representative.

Military credit

MCC evaluates multiple military transcripts annually. Joint Service Transcripts (JSTs) must be submitted to the Office of Admissions for an official evaluation. Credit awarded through military credential evaluation will be recorded on each student’s records at the time the student is admitted to MCC and enrolls in MCC courses.
