Job Description
Arkansas City, Kansas First Baptist Church of Arkansas City is prayerfully seeking a Lead Pastor who faithfully seeks God’s direction through prayer, possesses a true shepherd’s heart, and is passionate about God, His Word, and His people. We desire a pastor of integrity who maintains a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and who leads others through humble and Christ-centered leadership. Our next pastor will be a man who loves Scripture, values discipleship, and has a deep desire to see people grow in their faith and reach others with the Gospel.
The Lead Pastor will serve alongside an Elder Board that provides spiritual oversight for the church, working collaboratively to guide the congregation in biblical teaching, spiritual growth, and meaningful ministry.

About Our Church First Baptist Church is a multi-generational congregation affiliated with American Baptist Churches. We are a church family that values strong biblical teaching, authentic relationships, and a deep commitment to missions and serving our community.
- Our weekly attendance averages 150–175 people, and we are located in Arkansas City, Kansas, a welcoming community in south-central Kansas near the Oklahoma border.
- The people of First Baptist Church are committed to Christ, to one another, and are eager to follow the leadership of the pastor God is preparing for us.
The Ideal Candidate
The pastor we are seeking is a servant leader who demonstrates humility, wisdom, and a heart for people. He should be relational, approachable, and able to build meaningful connections across generations.

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated strength in preaching, leadership, and shepherding.
- Ability to connect with and lead a multi-generational congregation .
- Relational leadership style with strong interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to discipleship and equipping others for ministry.
- Seminary degree (M.Div.) or equivalent theological training preferred.
- Previous pastoral or associate pastoral ministry experience.
- Candidates should also meet the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership described in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
