Job Description

Independent First Christian Church of Wellington is seeking a full time minister to serve their congregation. The church has very nice facilities and is financially stable. Attendance averages 70-80 and topping 110 on occasion. Wellington, Texas population is nearing 2,000 people and is a great place to live in the Southeast Texas Panhandle. The school system is excellent.  The pastor’s role in the Body of Christ is to lead the congregation through ministries of preaching, teaching, and servanthood. Utilizing skills of pastoral care and administrative leadership.

Knowledge and Skills

Comprehensive knowledge of the Bible
Ability to show patience, perseverance and fiscal responsibility
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to show compassion for the concerns of others
Ability to relate and minister to adults and youth through various techniques
Ability to provide leadership to church family
Ability to lead and manage the daily operations of the church

Work Schedule

The position of pastor requires flexibility in hours available for work including evenings, weekends, and holidays
The pastor should be available to preach and teach at weekly scheduled services, events. Keep regular office hours that are sufficient to meet the needs of the congregation and potential members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide spiritual, pastoral, outreach, servant, and administrative leadership to congregation.
  • Interpret biblical scripture to congregation.
  • Motivate adults and youth through example, teaching and preaching.
  • Promote unity within the church and manage conflict when necessary.
  • Provide counseling to the congregation and prospects.
  • Prepare weekly biblically based sermons, preach and conduct worship services.
  • Teach Sunday evening Bible Study.
  • Participate in Wednesday night Fellowship/Youth.
  • Perform necessary clerical duties.
  • Officiate at special events (weddings, baptisms, funerals, etc.), attend youth camp.
  • Participate in evangelism by preaching at assisted living, giving invitations at worship services, special events, visitation and outreach.
  • Represent congregation on ministerial alliance and community services.
  • Be involved in community, represent the church at local and school events.
  • Attend, provide written and oral report monthly at Elders/Deacons meeting..
  • Work with various committees within church when necessary.
  • May be responsible for other duties as needed.

Compensation

  • Salary:
    • Commensurate with experience,
    • Potential raises available.
  • Vacation:
    • 2 weeks which includes 2 Sundays.
  • Housing
    • A nice 4 bedroom, 2 bath parsonage is provided.
    • Provided with water, phone and internet.

  • Travel reimbursement.
