Job Description

Fellowship Bible Church is seeking a Pastor of Student Ministries. The Pastor of Student Ministries at Fellowship Bible Church is responsible for supporting the church’s mission to disciple students in grades 7 through 12 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Through the creation and execution of student ministries and activities, the pastor will guide youth to Christ and inspire them to love, Know and Make Him Known with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Qualifications

Spiritual

Is a born-again believer through faith in Jesus Christ, having made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ and evidence of God’s call to student ministry.
Lives consistently with and in commitment to the requirements of an Elder as set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
Demonstrates a vital and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, is a person of prayer and the Word, and is a model of Biblical pattern of life and leadership; possesses a heart for youth; demonstrates a love for God and His people.
Shows evidence of control by the Holy Spirit in all aspect of personal and life and in ministry.

Professional

Possesses strong servant-leadership, relational, teaching, discipleship, and administrative skills.
Is in full agreement with the Doctrinal Statement of FBC; supporting the Constitution and Bylaws of FBC, evidencing commitment to the church’s stated purpose.
Bible School (or equivalent) training, having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministries (or equivalent) from an accredited school,
Experience in youth ministry, ministry design and implementation desired.

Personal

Exhibits the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
Is well-ordered and disciplined in his spiritual and personal life, maintaining a fresh and vital dependence of Christ through personal prayer and devotional life as the basis for ministry, and remaining in active prayer for and care of people.
Exhibits warmth, friendliness, empathy, sincerity, humility, and teachability; possessing an outgoing and welcoming nature.
Is committed to local outreach, along with national and international missions.

Relationships

The Pastor of Student Ministries is directly accountable to the Senior Pastor and will work closely with him in establishing, implementing, and promoting Student Ministries. His responsibility will be to the Elder Board through the Senior Pastor and will be expected to attend Elder Board meetings.

Responsibilities

The Pastor of Student Ministries is a full-time position, primarily responsible for the ministry to middle and high school aged students at FBC by planning, developing, implementing, and nurturing spiritually-base relationships and programmatic ministries. The range of responsibilities include but is not limited to:

Regular discipleship for middle and high school aged student through study and teaching God’s Word.
Provide Pastoral Care, including counseling for youth and their families.
Being attentional and relational with students outside of Sunday morning, Wednesday night services, and schedule meetings and events.
Being primary teacher for Sunday Morning Sunday School and Wednesday night services, and schedule meetings and events.
Being primary teacher for Sunday Morning Sunday School and Wednesday night youth group.
Develop and implement an on-going evaluation process for Youth ministry including but not limited to ~ lesson plans/youth ministry/ mission trips/fun activities etc. As approved by the Elder Board.
Pursue, with encouragement from the Pastoral staff and Elder Board, continued education and professional development.
Responsible for planning and youth retreats and an annual Mission Trip for the Youth.
Helping and being a part of FBC’s annual Vacation Bible School.
Organize and lead a Youth Ministry team to train/equip students to serve Christ in Church and Youth Group.
Collaboration with other FBC ministries as needed.
Recruit and encourage adult leaders to serve as youth sponsors for the youth group.
Willingness to preach as lead pastor request.
