Worship Minister

Job Description

The Worship Pastor is responsible for leading the church into meaningful, gospel-centered worship experiences by overseeing all planning and programming as well as any special elements and groups that contribute to the contemporary worship services. This includes musicians, vocalists, and audio/visual technicians.

Essential Job Functions:

Music and Worship

  • Plan, organize, and produce contemporary worship services and special elements to accomplish the overall mission.
  • Recruit, develop, and organize teams of musicians, vocalists, and technicians responsible for serving within those services.
  • Participate on programming and creative teams responsible for shaping the church’s worship ministry and culture.
  • Function as primary worship leader for contemporary worship services.
  • Coordinate music for weddings, funerals, and special services.
  • Oversee facilities, budgets, and volunteers within the above-mentioned areas.
  • Provide arts support as needed in the production of traditional services, special events and other church activities.
  • Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of worship center and student ministry facilities.
  • Oversee Student Body worship by recruiting, developing, and organizing artists and volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • This position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience as a staff member in a ministry leadership capacity.
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Music,
  • Biblical Studies or a related field is required.
    • (Extensive ministry experience, in some cases, can be substituted.)
  • The successful individual will be a strong leader, serve effectively within a team-environment, and possess the passion and gifts to develop and improve creative use of the arts.

Position Structure and Level

  • This position will directly report to the Lead Pastor and serve on the Executive Team.
