Children’s Minister
Title: Children’s Minister
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Hours: Full-Time (40+)
Summary: The Children’s Minister will lead with vision, creativity and excellence all ministry serving newborns-6th grade. This will require a gifted leader who is able to plan strategically, recruit and inspire volunteers across two campuses, and innovate ways to engage and serve the families and children of FCOC.
Responsibilities:
- Prioritize a walk with Christ that fosters a strong faith and models Godliness, character and integrity in all areas
- Coordinate all the details of Sunday ministry for Nursery-6th grade across two campuses. This includes organizing curriculum, planning activities, scheduling volunteers, etc.
- Nursery / Toddlers / Agape Land (4-5 year olds) / World Wide Kids (4th grade) / Cross 56 (5-6th grade)
- Lead the Wednesday evening AWANA program at the Mount Pleasant campus
- Plan and manage the Children’s Ministry budget and annual camp budget.
- Recruit volunteers by building relationships with congregants and casting an engaging and compelling children’s ministry vision
- Train and shepherd all children’s ministry volunteers
- Support families through occasional pastoral counseling, caring for sick children and families, handling discipline issues, etc.
- Strategically grow Wednesday night and Sunday engagement back to pre-Covid attendance (about 60 children on Wednesday evenings and 70 on Sunday mornings)
- Creatively identify fun and engaging worship experiences, Bible lessons, games, crafts, and more to ensure students are learning and growing spiritually and excited to attend
- Partner with local churches for annual summer camp serving about 150 kids
- Assess current curriculum to ensure its effectiveness
- Attend weekly staff meeting and meetings with Pastor Monte as required
- Observe, assess and improve existing ministry. Contribute innovation and enthusiasm to the current programming
- Partner with Student Ministries leadership to ensure a smooth transition occurs between 6th grade (Children’s Ministry) and 7th grade (Student Ministry)

- Genuine love for children and a desire to reach a generation for Jesus
Desired Experience:
- Biblical education (Bible school / Seminary / Biblical studies major)
- Past ministry experience preferred, particularly relating to designing ministry plans and leading volunteer teams
- Licensed / Ordained (if not currently licensed, FCOC would license for ministry)
