As the Lead Minister, you will play a vital role in setting the overall vision and direction for church initiatives, overseeing church staff, and directing efforts to equip the saved and reach the lost. General Description
This position leads Post Road Christian Church in its mission of preaching and teaching the Scriptures to inspire people to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, thus fulfilling the church’s vision of “connecting people to Jesus.” It also encourages people to grow in a mature relationship with Him. The Lead Minister, with the elders, will set the vision for the church.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver sermons.
- Preach at least fifty percent of Sunday sermons including Christmas and Easter.
- Oversee preaching schedules and worship service planning.
- Develop and communicate with the elders the vision of the church.
- Champion a healthy and flourishing staff culture.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Train and develop new and existing leaders.
- Lead in ministry training and calling, equipping lay members for ministry.
- Serve as a compassionate pastoral model and a prophetic voice.
- Participate and provide assistance in Restoration brotherhood ministry events promoting fellowship and unity.
- Work with community ministries to grow the Kingdom of God.
- Provide spiritual leadership to the church, its chosen leaders, ministers, and staff.
- Work with the elders for the purpose of oversight, direction, and guidance of the church.
- Lead or participate in a LIFE Group. 8. Other duties and responsibilities as agreed.

- Support major areas of ministry by bringing one’s leadership, gifts, resources, and skills to enhance the ministry areas and events of other Pastoral Staff.
- Assist with pastoral tasks and duties as agreed upon including hospital visitation. Contribute positively to the team effort and spirit of the pastoral staff, elders, and church.
Mutual Submission
The Lead Minister will serve on the pastoral staff. He will serve under the supervision of the elders with mutual submission. He will regularly interact with and report the status of the ministry to the Elders.
About the Church
Post Road Christian Church (PRCC) is located on the far eastside on the boundary of urban and suburban Indianapolis in the Warren Township MSD school district. PRCC members come from not only Warren Township, but also the surrounding communities of New Palestine, Greenfield, Cumberland, and Lawrence. PRCC has actively ministered on the eastside of Indianapolis for almost 75 years. We believe we are called to strive towards connecting people to Jesus in this multi-cultural community.
One of our Co-Pastors is retiring next year. We are in an intensive congregational review, planning and implementing process to make our church more effective. Ideally this retiring pastor will spend about 6 months transitioning with the new Lead Minister. The other Co-Pastor will step back to being a Senior Associate. E2 Effective Elders, located in Indianapolis, is working with us as consulting ministry.
Our current average attendance of over 375 to a high of over 500 on Easter with 75-100 online each week. We are growing with significant numbers of younger couples and children. We are a mixed racial (Black, White and Hispanic) congregation with a staff of 4 full time and 7 part time staff. The Lead Minister would inspire and lead directly or indirectly all of these. The position would require at least preaching half the time two Sunday morning services a week. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years leading a multi staff of 4 or more and 5 years of significant preaching experience. A ministry graduate degree is preferred or more significant experience. A commitment to an urban/suburban community is essential.
The cost of living is well below the national average. The median home price as of 2022 was $251K compared to the national average of $375K.
