Pastor
Job Description
First Christian Church of LeRoy seeking a pastor. He will be a person of good character, integrity, and have a passionate, growing relationship with Jesus Christ, upholding the scriptural qualifications for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4).
Primary Responsibilities
- Preaching/Teaching.
- He believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
- He preaches a weekly sermon with a sound unwavering commitment to the Word.
- He preaches the whole counsel of God, not for agendas, political correctness, nor fear of man’s opinions.
- Possesses clear communication skills in the delivery of God’s Word that inspire deeper connections and encourages the people to want to be a disciple.
Leadership
- Effectively provide oversight, guidance, and encouragement for all ministries of the church, assisting with major events (such as Vacation Bible School, music, small group settings, children’s programs, etc.).
- Have the ability to work alongside church leadership/congregation while promoting a spirit of unity.
- Demonstrate a desire to engage in continuous learning activities that deepen knowledge of God’s Word.
Outreach/Community Support
- Committed to making an impact on the community with the gospel of Jesus Christ by developing various ministries, missions, and outreach opportunities.
- Develop relationships with community members, schools, and organizations in order to provide a witness for Christ and build a positive reputation for First Christian Church.
- Be a participating member of the Coffey County Ministerial Alliance.
- Caring for the Congregation.
Counseling
- Gives sound biblical counsel, advice, and guidance.
- Encourages mature believers in the faith to assist with spiritual counseling opportunities.
Other Responsibilities
- Visits members in hospitals, care facilities, and homes.
- Perform weddings, baptisms, and funerals.
Administrative Duties
- Participate in self-assessment and performance review discussions with the church leadership, and act on said feedback with a humble and teachable spirit recognizing we all have limitations and weaknesses.
- Works Sunday mornings with negotiable regular office hours
Ephesians 4:11-16: And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
We do not expect or desire the pastor to do everything and be everything. We want you to EQUIP us, so we can be the body of Christ TOGETHER.

- Experience: College Degree, seeking a degree, or considerable experience.
