Antioch Christian Church in Watkinsville, GA is seeking a Youth Minister to join their Pastoral Team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAND DUTIES
The Youth Pastor of Antioch Christian Churchwilllead the middle school and high school ministries,and oversee and develop the college-age ministry. Theyshould have a heart for gospel-focused, family-based ministry that disciples studentstoward spiritual maturity. They will work toward a unified focus for student ministries in cooperation with our children’s ministry team to address the spiritual needs of the next generation. The goal of student ministry is to lead young people in becoming fully devoted, lifetime followers of Jesus Christ while comingalong side and equipping parents as the primary spiritual leaders of the family. In accordance with the Elders andthe Senior Pastor, the Youth Pastorshall carefully watch over and guide the spiritual lifeof the youth of Antioch, and perform the dutiesinherent to the spiritual gifting of a youth pastor, whichinclude,butarenot limited to,the following:
1)Maintain personal and spiritual growth to insure ongoing passion for ministry, personal and family stability, and good physical health.
2)Provide overall leadership to student ministry volunteers by enlisting, empowering and equipping them for their specific areas of ministry.
3)Give oversight and direction to ensure that student worship is doctrinally sound, God-focused and life-transforming.
4)Provideshepherding and counseling to students and families in conjunction with the Senior Pastor, making referral to professional counselors when needed.
5)Work in cooperation withthe children’s ministry team to ensure unified curriculum flow and a smooth transition of students from elementary age into middle school ministries.
6)Manage and/or provide oversight of administrative needs of student ministries (i.e. scheduling, budget, event coordination, etc.)
7)Cultivatethe development of spiritual gifts of theyouth of thecongregation.
8)Develop and oversee policies and procedures for a “safe” and effective student ministry (will be a member of the Child Safety Committee).
9)Attract and nurturenew youth members to the church.
10)Functioneffectively with the pastoral team and staff with a spirit of mutual respect and providing spiritual wisdom with and for one another.
11)Participatein key events at Antioch throughout the year, including but not limited to, church-sponsored meals, holiday events, fundraisers, and local travel to and with key constituents and small groups.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The Youth Pastor should haveformal education with a degree in Biblical Studies and/or Youth Ministry strongly preferred from an accredited seminary, or similar education. Prior experience on a ministry staff with a record of leading student ministries isstronglypreferred, but not required. Ideal candidates will have a belief system and principles that align with the Antioch Christian Church doctrine and By-Laws (available uponrequest).

Antioch Christian Churchis a warm and loving congregation that is committed to being the presence of Jesus in south Oconee County and the surrounding area.From its’ beginning, the church has been associated with the Restoration Movement that swept across America at the turn of the 19thcentury. The congregation traces its roots to the first American settlers in this area who in 1807 constructed a small logstructure called “OldRepublican” as a meeting house and place of worship. Asecond church was constructed on thehill in the trees above Rose Creek in 1820. The third and present church was erected in 1885.

CURRENT STAFF POSITIONS
Senior Pastor –responsible, with the Elders, to carefully watch over and guide the Spiritual life of the Antioch.
Worship/Music Minister –responsible for developing and promoting the music ministry of the church
Youth Pastor –currently seeking God’s direction for the next person God has selected for Antioch.
Ministry Leaders and Support
Children’s Ministry Director –responsible for ministry programs for Pre-K (age 3) through 5thgrade.
Office Administrator –responsible for day-to-dayoffice duties, bulletins, bookkeeping, scheduling, etc.
Church Custodian –responsible for cleaning the church, fellowship hall (except the nursery) and youth house.
Nursery Coordinator and Custodian –responsible for managing the nursery (ages under three years old) on Sunday mornings & evenings, Wednesday evenings and other times as needed, as well as cleaning the nursery.
** We have many volunteers who faithfully serve to fulfill the ministries of Antioch. We have volunteers that help with Nursery, Pre-K, Elementary, Middle and High School Youth, as well as a facility manager, pianist, and organist.
Antioch Christian Church is governed by a Board of Deacons and Elders in concert with by-laws administering the operation of the church.
Antioch Christian Church is located about 10 miles south of Watkinsville, Georgia, the county seat of Oconee County. Oconee County is located about 60 miles east of Atlanta, and just south of Athens, homeof the University of Georgia, the nation’s oldest state-chartered university.
Oconee County’s legacy is seen every day in family farms, art studios, small business, job producers and the classrooms of 10 public schools, three private schools and the University of North Georgia Oconee campus.
Oconee County is comprised of four cities: Bishop, Bogart, North High Shoals, and the county seat of Watkinsville. Watkinsville was incorporated on November 24, 1806. Watkinsville is a major regional hub for artists and creative entrepreneurs. Exhibits and galleries area huge regional draw.
Oconee’s biggest crop is poultry, but it is also one of the leading green-industrygrowers of ornamental plants. Crops and livestock farmers are a rich part of the county’s heritage.
The county has seen tremendous growth in recent decades. The expansion and proximity to the University of Georgia in neighboring Athens-Clarke County is appealing. Even Atlanta, 60miles to the west, has influenced the county.
