Job Description
Frist Christian Church of Texhoma is looking for a God-called Christian pastor who can lead our church into the future with conviction, vision, and humility. An ideal candidate has experience leading other churches of our size, demographic makeup, and theological commitments. This candidate will also be an engaging, biblically faithful teacher who can relate to people of different ethnic, socio-economic, and generational backgrounds.
Community and Church Overview
Teshoma, OK, is a safe, tight-knit community, where we look out for each other, encourage our friends and neighbors, and lean on one another in good and bad times. Our community is centered around our Christian faith, Godly principles that our people hold dear, a safe and God-fearing school system, and reaches into the best of what the rural way of life has to offer. As a church, FCC Texhoma is the spiritual leader in the Texhoma community.
The people of FCC are the leaders in the community-wide food pantry ministry, community-wide angel tree ministry, and provide regular financial support to 5 ministries actively ministering worldwide.
FCC Texhoma is blessed with a contemporary praise band with multiple musicians and singers (instruments include a keyboard, lead guitar, bass guitar, and trap set). FCC Texhoma leads the community-wide youth group called The Summit (located in downtown Texhoma) – which includes students from all churches and financially supports them to attend Christ in Youth every summer. In 2023, FCC Texhoma continues to be a beacon for student ministry in the region, taking 75+ students and sponsors to Christ in Youth for MOVE and MIX– representing almost 50% of all students in those grades!!
Responsibilities
- Serve as a leader by example in personal discipleship, stewardship, and evangelism.
- Provide spiritual leadership and guidance for the church along with the elders.
- Provide overall vision for the direction of the ministry.
- Operate as the church’s primary Bible teacher and preacher, responsible for the regular Bible teaching ministry of the church.
- Coordinate with the Worship Leader to plan the church’s worship services.
- Conduct weddings, funerals, and baptisms according to the doctrinal commitments of our church as
- Spend appropriate time in study and prayer in preparation for teaching opportunities.
- Meet with the church’s operating board regularly to report on the congregation’s spiritual, organizational, and financial health.
- Develop relationships with other churches and organizations in our community consistent with our church’s mission and values.
- When needed, counsel members and families on how to live biblically faithful lives.
- Serve as the overseer for the church staff.
- Meet regularly with staff and other church leaders to disciple and train them in ministry.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of all church committees and teams.
Requirements
- College experience and education in relevant subject degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of pastoral ministry experience.
- Significant experience in and demonstrated interest in leadership.
- Commitment to serve within the church’s current ministry partnerships.
- Understanding of and willingness to minister within the church’s statement of beliefs.
- A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-13; 2 Tim. 2; Titus 1:5-9).
- A calling to pastoral ministry.
